We harvested 1/2 of the RiceField and the result is a bit disappointing. We only harvested 47.5 Cavans of Palay for half of the ricefield. Next half of ricefield harvest will be mid November.
Each sack of Palay weighs around 50 - 60 kilos each. So we Harvested around 47.5 x (ave of 55 kls per large sack palay ) = 2,612.50 kilos of palay MORE or LESS.
There are valid reasons for this:
1. Im a computer programmer turned farmer. I needed to learn a lot to get the best result. Maybe Next harvest is better
2. Typhoon Falcon and monsoon rains of almost three weeks caused heavy damaged to crops.
3. I will compute your Net/Loss (all expenses against harvest) after we harvested on Mid November so you will know if somehow we gained something after harvest.
We opted to hire Harvester because we are really very busy right now to use our threser. Harvester charged 11% of the gross harvest. They do and provide everything, manpower and sacks. No Headaches and No stress. We only wait until its done.
